Request a Light Show — $5Install the show on a USB drive
These steps follow the public Tesla light-show project. They are a starting point, not a promise that every vehicle or software version behaves the same way. Check Tesla's current documentation before you rely on a show.
Step 1
Format a USB drive you own
Use exFAT, FAT32, or MS-DOS FAT. Tesla's project also lists ext3 and ext4. NTFS is not supported. Do not put a TeslaCam folder, map updates, or firmware files on this drive.
Step 2
Create the LightShow folder
At the top level of the drive, create a folder named exactly LightShow. The capital letters matter.
Step 3
Copy the matching files into that folder
A show needs a sequence file ending in .fseq and an audio file ending in .mp3 or .wav. The names before the extension must match, for example night-drive.fseq and night-drive.wav. Keep the filenames exactly as they were provided.
Step 4
Eject the drive and plug it into the vehicle
Park first. Use a USB port the vehicle can read for data. Which port works depends on the model and year, so check the vehicle manual.
Step 5
Start the show from the touchscreen
Open the Light Show feature and choose the custom show from the USB drive. Play it only while parked, and only when it is safe. Multiple shows can share one LightShow folder on software that supports that.
Light Show Labs does not control Tesla software. A file that plays in one vehicle may need a different software version, port, or filename in another. If the car does not list the show, compare the drive with Tesla's current light-show instructions before changing the files.
